Non-conformance report (NCR)
Also called: NCR
A record that a part, material or process doesn’t meet its requirement, with what was found and what happens to the affected items.
An NCR describes the problem, the quantity affected and its disposition: use as is, rework, repair, return to supplier or scrap. Serious or repeated NCRs lead to a corrective action request, often an 8D.
Supplier NCRs are a common input to supplier ratings.
Where it goes wrong
NCRs raised at incoming inspection are discussed with the supplier by phone, and the disposition and cost never reach the record.
What Spurby does
Keeps each NCR with the supplier conversation behind it, and follows the disposition through.
