Lookahead programme
Also called: Lookahead schedule
A short-term construction schedule, usually two to six weeks ahead, setting out which trades do which work and what each needs to be ready.
The lookahead breaks the master programme into near-term tasks and checks their constraints: drawings, materials, access, equipment and the trades before. It is updated weekly with subcontractors.
It is only as accurate as the dates each subcontractor and supplier commits to.
Where it goes wrong
A subcontractor’s promise changes in the chat (“tomorrow,” three days running) while the lookahead still shows the original date, and the next trade arrives to an area that isn’t ready.
What Spurby does
Compares each partner’s promised dates with what they last said, updates the lookahead, and tells the next trade before it mobilises.
