Strike-off
A printed or embroidered sample of a design on the production fabric, sent for approval of colour, scale and placement before bulk printing.
Where a lab dip approves a solid colour, a strike-off approves a print or embroidery: its colours, repeat, scale and placement. The printer or mill usually produces it on the fabric that will be used in bulk.
Like lab dips, strike-offs can take several rounds, each with comments.
Where it goes wrong
Comments on a strike-off live in emails and photos, and the printer can run bulk from an earlier round if the latest comments never reach it.
What Spurby does
Tracks each round and its comments, and tells the printer which round is approved.
