PP sample

Also called: Pre-production sample

The sample made from production fabric and trims, on the production line, that the brand approves before bulk production starts.

The PP sample is the last check before bulk: it should match the approved fit, the bulk fabric, the trims and the labelling. Its approval usually releases cutting.

Some brands also ask for a TOP sample, the first pieces taken off the production line.

Where it goes wrong

A PP approval with open comments, or one given while a fabric test is still pending, is often read as a release for bulk.

What Spurby does

Records the approval with any open comments or pending tests, and flags cutting that starts before they’re closed.
