Site instruction
A written direction to the contractor from the architect, engineer or project manager, issued during construction.
Site instructions clarify or change how work is done, and may lead to a variation if they change scope, cost or time. Most contracts expect them in writing, even when first given verbally on site.
They are numbered and kept in a register.
Where it goes wrong
Instructions given verbally or in WhatsApp groups often never become written instructions, and the contractor is left without the paper trail it needs.
What Spurby does
Captures instructions from chats, calls and site diaries with who gave them, and prompts for the written instruction.
