RA bill
Also called: Running account bill, interim payment application
An interim bill for work completed so far, based on measured quantities, used for progress payments on Indian construction projects.
Contractors raise RA bills periodically, usually monthly, from measurements of work done against the bill of quantities and approved variations. The client’s quantity surveyor checks the measurements before certifying payment.
Elsewhere, the equivalent is an interim payment application.
Where it goes wrong
Work done on verbal instructions appears in the bill without an approved variation, and the bill is held in dispute.
What Spurby does
Checks billed items against approved variations, instructions and measurements before the bill goes in.
